"Riesa has been good to me and fingers crossed it's going to be the same this weekend" - Gerwyn Price on the hunt for third straight International Darts Open title

Gerwyn Price has qualified for the last sixteen of the International Darts Open. 'The Iceman' was too strong Brendan Dolan 6-4 in the second round.

Price achieved nearly 97 average versus Dolan's 92.98. "I played alright I think," reflected Price afterwards. "Brendan was a bit off his game and I wasn't at my best, but I'll be a lot better tomorrow."

In the last sixteen, Price will take on Ricardo Pietreczko, who won 6-5 over James Wade in the second round. The 39-year-old Welshman has previously triumphed four times at the International Darts Open, including at each of the last two years. "Riesa has been good to me and fingers crossed it's going to be the same this weekend," he concludes.

Price first won at the International Darts Open in 2018 by beating Simon Whitlock (8-3) in the final. A year later, 'The Iceman' was 8-6 too strong for Rob Cross in the final match. In 2022, Price again pulled off the win, this time at the expense of Peter Wright (8-4). At the 2023 edition, Price triumphed 8-4 against Michael van Gerwen in the final.
