"I played alright considering the conditions" - Luke Humphries easily through to last sixteen at International Darts Open despite troubles with humidity

Luke Humphries remains on course for his second tournament victory this year on the European Tour. 'Cool Hand Luke,' who previously won the German Darts Grand Prix, was a 6-2 winner over Jose de Sousa in the second round of the International Darts Open.

Humphries was especially strong on his scoring with six 180s. On his doubles he was less precise with no fewer than 11 misses. "I wasn't at my menacing best but I thought I played alright considering the [humid] conditions," said Humphries post-match. "We all have to deal with it."

It was Humphries' first time competing as reigning world champion in Riesa. "I was looking forward to another good reception from the crowd and I got it. Hopefully I can give them some good darts tomorrow."

Humphries will take on Stephen Bunting on Sunday afternoon at the last sixteen, who was too strong for Michael Unterbuchner in the second round, 6-1.
