Robert Owen will fight for his Tour Card in the next few months sitting well inside the top 80 in the world. He has picked up some steam in recent months with European Tour qualification.
But has desires not only to remain on the ProTour but kick on. Albeit the Welshman known as Stack Attack knows that it is only achieved by reaching certain tournaments.
"I'd probably say over the last five months, my game has been growing again and again. I feel now I'm at the level where even the top boys are like woah I've got to play well to beat this guy as he's playing so well. But I've just taken that different mentality. I've had a little baby so sometimes I miss a few ProTours as there are more important things than darts. But I think I'm at a level now that I can beat anyone on this planet," said a confident Owen to Online Darts.
"I'm very close to where I want to be. Not quite there but once I've had this done there could be big things on the cards."
"I'm not far off the Players Championship finals. I'm not far off the World Championship. I got the two Europeans coming, I can't see why I can't get into the World Championship automatic and have a good run."
"If I can win a few games which I know I can, I'll be straight back there. I think I'll start next year off flying."
But he is all in on this mission. He continued that he has no desire to chase the extra money that could be on offer that is perhaps more secure for lower ranked players dropping off the tour in the MODUS Super Series and ADC.
"For me I'm in a decent financial situation. My wife's got a very good job with the NHS. I still work part time and the money I still earn now helps. It's a bit like a bonus. It doesn't make such a big impact on my life anymore. Where I want to be is the ProTour. It's the hardest place to earn money but I like making life hard for myself. I can play MODUS Super Series, ADC. I'm not one for playing five days a week. I want to be on the ProTour as simple as that. I think I deserve to be on the ProTour and I think I'm good enough to be on it as a regular candidate."
