In the second year of his PDC Tour Card, Graham Usher looks set to depart the Pro Tour at the end of the season. Currently ranked 83rd in the Order of Merit, Usher needs to get into the top 64 to avoid a trip to Q-School.
"It's tough you know, there's no easy games and things so it is hard. But, I love it and I've enjoyed every minute of it," Usher reflects his time on the Pro Tour to date, in conversation with Online Darts. "Playing with the best in the world, week in and week out, it does lift your game up a bit."
As mentioned though, the odds are currently very slim that Usher will keep his Tour Card when the two-year spell is over. That doesn't mean his time in the PDC is necessarily over though. "Now I've got the taste for it, I'd like to go back and give it another go," Usher explains, announcing his intentions to travel to Q-School in January if and when he does drop off the Pro Tour. "My game's there, so there's no reason why not! I've picked up some good results along the way, beat some big names, so yeah why not?"
"I need to put more effort in. I still work full-time, which is not an excuse, but it is tough, very tough and I've just got to be more dedicated," continues Usher, intent on hitting the heights more consistently if he is able to get back on the Pro Tour through Q-School. "These lads, it's their job you know, I've got another job. But hopefully, that can go."
"It's tough to keep going back day after day, knowing you've drawn Gary Anderson or Michael van Gerwen first round. Sometimes you're just like 'give me a break!'" Usher laughs. "But there's a lot of good playing coming through, so I'm just going to enjoy it."
