Josh Rock has won a tournament on the PDC Development Tour for the second time this weekend. In the final tournament of the weekend he was too strong for Nathan Girvan.
The 20-year-old did not play in the first two tournaments of the weekend on Friday and made his Development Tour debut on Saturday. It was a debut not to be forgotten, as Rock won the third tournament of the PDC Development Tour and reached the final again later in the day. But then he lost to Dutch prospect Kevin Doets.
He reached his third final in a row on Sunday. The Northern Irishman moved into the final after defeating Keelan Kay (4-3), Lewy Williams (4-2), Jurjen van der Velde (4-1), Fabian Schmutzler (5-0) and Bradley Brooks (5-3). In the final Rock quickly took a 3-0 lead after three 15-darters, before winning the match 5-3.
The Development Tour is the PDC's youth circuit. This tour is open for players aged 16 to 23. Players who turn 24 during the season are allowed to finish this year.
Each Development Tour tournament has a prize fund of £10,000. With the prize money a ranking will be made. At the end of the season the numbers one and two will receive an invitation to the PDC World Darts Championship, plus a Tour Card for 2023 and 2024.
