Rowby-John Rodriguez surged past Nick Kenny to secure his spot in the second round at the PDC
World Darts Championship where next up Luke Humphries awaits.
Rodriguez admitted post match that he had a new perspective as not only a player that was expected to win but also as a player who does not have a Tour Card.
"It was the second win in my career at the Ally Pally but to be honest, this year I came here with other perspective. This year was my game to lose if I don't perform but I did perform," said Rodriguez post match.
"For me, it was a 50/50 game, I know how good (Nick) Kenny is and I know him from the youth from the BDO times but I know also how much pressure was on that game to get a Tour Card."
"This year was the less time I was watching the ranking because I didn't have anything to lose and of course people texting me saying you need this and that but this year has been phenomenal for me and I just want to keep on going."
