Peter Wright is successfully through to the third round of the PDC
World Darts Championship as he aims for his second World crown with a straight sets triumph over Ryan Meikle.
Wright takes the spoils in the Suffolk derby with a 92 average and 35% on the doubles and he will now return after Christmas to aim for the title.
A 180 from Wright was cancelled out by Meikle who held with an 89 checkout to begin the tie. 'Snakebite' levelled up with a hold from there.
Meikle missed double 20 for a 160 but returned for double five to go 2-1 up. Wright changed darts and pinned 81 on double 12 for 2-2.
Double 20 was pinned off an 81 and Wright headed into the first interval with the opening set.
On return, an 80 checkout saw Meikle break to begin the second set. Wright failed to break back but Meikle missed two at double 20 which allowed 'Snakebite' back for double five.
A 65 checkout saw Wright go 2-1 up before he closed out the second set.
Wright began the third set with a break as he looked to surge towards the finish. Double five saw him go one away from the win.
He missed 170 on the bull for the win but returned for double four to claim it.
