Saturday night the four final matches from the second round of the
World Cup of Darts are on the programme. Among other things, we get to see the cracker between the Netherlands and Belgium.
Much has already been written about the Belgian team this week. Things did not clash at all between Dimitri van den Bergh and Kim Huybrechts during the first pool match on Thursday and the Belgians completely ignored each other. A mediation meeting took place on Friday, after which they showed improvement during their second match and tried to cheer each other up.
Dirk van Duijvenbode and
Danny Noppert were allowed to skip the group stage and will only play their first match of the tournament tonight. It is not the first time the two Dutchmen will play together. They also formed a duo at last year's World Cup of Darts. Then they eventually lost to Wales in the semi-finals.
That country is now the top favourite for overall victory and will also be in action on Saturday night.
Jonny Clayton and
Gerwyn Price will face Vladimir Andersen and Benjamin Drue Reus from Denmark.
First-placed England, with
Michael Smith and
Rob Cross in the ranks, will battle Latvian duo Madars Razma and Dmitrijs Žukovs. The evening concludes with a fine friendly between Poland and Germany. Poland impressed in the group stage by throwing an average of 118.10 in their second match. This average by Krzysztof Ratajski and Krzysztof Kciuk was the highest team average in the history of the Nations tournament. Germany did not concede a leg in the group stage with easy wins over Hong Kong (4-0) and Japan (4-0).
