The
Austrian Darts Open 2025 continues Saturday afternoon with the first eight matches from the second round of the Euro Tour tournament in Austria taking place.
The Austrian Darts Open was once the first Euro Tour tournament to be held. Justin Pipe crowned himself winner of the very first Euro Tour event in PDC history in 2012. Michael van Gerwen (2013) and Vincent van der Voort (2014) then provided Dutch successes in Austria before Phil Taylor won the 2016 edition. Van Gerwen eventually triumphed four times, as he also picked up wins in 2017, 2019 and 2022. Jonny Clayton was best in 2018 and 2023, while Littler ran away with the title in 2024.

The afternoon session in Graz will be kicked off by Ross Smith and Chris Landman. Smith, seeded tenth, is of course the favorite to start the match, although he has yet to produce any significant results this year. There may be a chance for Landman, too strong 6-5 in the first round against Andrew Gilding, to pull off a surprise. Smith is known for his high scoring ability, so it will be important for Landman to try to keep up.
Ryan Searle v Ryan Joyce
Afterwards, it is the turn of two English players to enter the arena. Ryan Searle starts this tournament as the 11th series leader, but will still be wary of the unseeded Ryan Joyce. 'Relentless' defeated Finn Teemu Harju in the opening round and proved earlier that on a good day he can win from anyone. This promises to be an exciting match.
Danny Noppert v Niko Springer
Eighth-seeded Danny Noppert will take on German Niko Springer. Noppert starts this duel as the clear favorite, but will still be wary of Springer. The German is considered by many followers to be the biggest talent in the German darts world and it seems to be only a matter of time before he starts to advance tremendously in the world rankings.
Gian van Veen v Dirk van Duijvenbode
The fourth match of the afternoon session is the tie between Gian van Veen and Dirk van Duijvenbode. Van Veen lost the final of the German Darts Grand Prix 8-5 to Michael van Gerwen early this week. The 22-year-old Dutchman has been piling up high averages for months, so a first major title is on the way. If Van Veen wants to realize that this weekend, he will first have to get past Van Duijvenbode. Aubergenius' struggled for a long time with a shoulder injury, but is slowly getting back to his best level. In the first round he easily won 6-1 against György Jehirszki and posted an average of over 106;
Joe Cullen v Thibault Tricole
Fourteenth-seeded Joe Cullen starts his match against Frenchman Thibault Tricole as the favorite. 'The French Touch' was too strong for Austrian Christian Gödl in the opening round 6-3.
Josh Rock v Krzysztof Ratajski
Josh Rock won last year's Dutch Darts Championship and will look for the second title of his career on the
European Tour this weekend. In his first match this weekend, he will have to get past Poland's Krzysztof Ratajski. Rock already won a Players Championship earlier this year, so he is clearly in good shape. However, Ratajski is never to be underestimated, in the first round he was 6-3 too strong for the always treacherous Mickey Mansell.
Daryl Gurney v Mensur Suljovic
Mensur Suljovic's career has been on the decline for several years now, but in front of his own crowd, the Austrian will be eager to perform strongly once again. In the first round he defeated Ritchie Edhouse 6-3. If he wants to advance to the third round, he will also have to beat Daryl Gurney. Like Suljovic, the Northern Irishman has been playing in the PDC for years and is seeded sixteenth this tournament.
Mike De Decker v Wessel Nijman
The afternoon session concludes with a Belgian-Dutch duel. Mike De Decker and Wessel Nijman will meet for a place in the third round. Two players who often throw high averages and are also in form, it promises to be an exciting match in which details will probably provide the decision.
TV Guide
The tournament will be broadcast by PDC TV. As usual with Euro Tour tournaments, the Austrian Darts Open consists of three tournament days. The afternoon sessions start daily at 12 p.m., while the evening sessions start at 6 p.m.
The first round will take place on Saturday. The 16 Pro Tour players are then paired with one of the 16 players who managed to get through the various qualifying tournaments. The top-16 seeded players enter the tournament on Sunday in the second round. The denouement of the tournament follows on Monday, with the third round first in the afternoon session. Monday night the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will follow.
Distribution of prize money
All participants starting from the first round are guaranteed £1250 in prize money, while the top-16 enter from the second round and receive £2,500 anyway. This amount eventually rises to the grand prize of £30,000 for the winner.
An important detail is that players who are automatically seeded via the Order of Merit and lose their first match will not be awarded prize money on the various rankings. This does apply to qualifiers who are later designated as seeded by the withdrawal of others.
