Friday afternoon the fourth Euro Tour tournament of the season gets underway in Sindelfingen. The first sixteen players will then appear on stage at the Glaspalast for the first round.
Opening up proceedings at the
European Tour staple will be Jeffrey Sparidaans, who takes on Callan Rydz. Later in the afternoon, Niels Zonneveld faces Christian Perez. The cracker of the afternoon is the clash between former major winners Jose de Sousa and Daryl Gurney. They will meet in the last match of the afternoon session.
Keane Barry will play Stephen Burton for a spot in the second round, while Scott Williams will square off against Niko Springer. Former UK Open champion Andrew Gilding crosses swords with Brendan Dolan.
A duel with Martin Lukeman is scheduled for Luke Woodhouse. Former Masters winner Joe Cullen starts his tournament against Johan Engstrom. By the way, the winner of that duel will play Michael van Gerwen in the second round.
The
European Darts Grand Prix has been played nine times in the past. There are as many as eight different winners on the honor roll. Mervyn King, Kim Huybrechts, Michael van Gerwen (2x), Peter Wright, Ian White, Jose de Sousa, Luke Humphries and Rob Cross managed to win this tournament in the past.
