Sunday afternoon marks the start of the third round at the
European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen. It is business end time at the latest
European Tour.
Danny Noppert will face former world champion Rob Cross in the last sixteen. Noppert won 6-5 over Daryl Gurney on Saturday afternoon in the second round after a cracker, while Cross was too strong for Martin Schindler with the same figures.
For Van Gerwen, a showdown with Jonny Clayton awaits after his 6-1 victory over Johan Engstrom. 'The Ferret' dealt with Chris Dobey in the second round. The cracker of the afternoon, however, is the meeting between Gerwyn Price and Gary Anderson, who both managed to throw an average of over 110 in the second round.
The afternoon session will open with another fun affair between Josh Rock and Michael Smith. The latter was responsible for the elimination of Raymond van Barneveld in the second round. Mid-afternoon, reigning world champion Luke Humphries plays against Stephen Bunting.
Damon Heta, who threw 117 average against Mickey Mansell on Saturday, faces off with Scott Williams. Ritchie Edhouse meets Ross Smith, while Dave Chisnall and Gabriel Clemens will battle for the final quarterfinal spot.
