The final session is here at the 2024 Masters, but who will be crowned the first major champion of the season in Milton Keynes. Sunday evening holds the key with four players left in the reckoning.
The first semi-final sees Stephen Bunting face Nathan Aspinall. Bunting as ever has been in sparkling form carrying on his excellence from before the World Championship and could yet be out for revenge. He swept Peter Wright 10-2 to reach this point. While Nathan Aspinall narrowly saw off Daryl Gurney. Albeit after a bit of a torrid time, 'The Asp' may see this as the confidence booster he needs during a tough Premier League Darts campaign.
The second semi-final is one darts fans will know all too well, but mainly for Michael van Gerwen's sheer dominance over his opponent. He will face Dimitri van den Bergh who has not won in 11 meetings and has never defeated the Dutch juggernaut. He will have to tonight with MVG being favourite to add a sixth Masters title and his first since 2019.
Speaking during the tournament, he spoke of his willingness to play while Gerwyn Price takes a holiday and he may get his reward. A Premier League meeting with Nathan Aspinall could await after or it could be a World Championship return meeting when he faces Stephen Bunting who had so much promise to beat him but was nowhere near his best. So multiple facets to the story going into tonight. Who comes out champion? It all begins at 7pm.
