Eight darters are still in the race for overall victory at the International Darts Open. Among the remaining contenders is defending champion Gerwyn Price.
In the first quarter-final though, it is Danny Noppert against home crowd hero, Martin Schindler. Noppert already managed to win over Dimitri van den Bergh (6-4) and Nathan Aspinall (6-2) at this tournament. Whilst Schindler eliminated Jan Dueckers (6-1), Joe Cullen (6-3) and Richard Veenstra (6-1).
The second quarterfinal is an all-English encounter between Ryan Searle and Chris Dobey. Searle showed coolness against Daryl Gurney (6-3) and Damon Heta (6-5) earlier in the tournament. Dobey wasted less energy in his matches against Dylan Slevin (6-1), Krzysztof Ratajski (6-4) and Gabriel Clemens (6-0).
After surprising wins over Michael Smith and Rob Cross, Ritchie Edhouse faces Masters winner Stephen Bunting in the last eight. 'The Bullet' was responsible for eliminating reigning world champion Luke Humphries on Sunday afternoon.
Top favourite Gerwyn Price, who has won the International Darts Open four times in the past, is up against Ross Smith. Price won in the last sixteen with an average of nearly 116 over Ricardo Pietreczko, while Smith squeezed past Cameron Menzies.
