Chris Landman v Lok Yin Lee (R1)
For the second time in his career, Chris Landman will be there at the World Darts Championship. At the 2022 edition, Landman was among the participants as an international qualifier. Then he won 3-0 over Scott Mitchell in the first round, before Landman went down against Ian White in the second round. This year, 'The Countryman' secured placement via the Pro Tour, after, among other things, a semifinal on the Players Championship circuit in 2024.
Lok Yin Lee will make his debut at Alexandra Palace. The darter from Hong Kong had not performed adequately on the Asian Tour, where he finished 14th. Lee did, however, take his chance at the PDC Asian Championship. At that tournament, Lee was the losing semifinalist. That performance proved sufficient for a World Championship ticket.
Callan Rydz v Romeo Grbavac (R1)
A Croatian darter at this World Darts Championship is nothing new, but this year it is not Boris Krcmar doing the honors. Instead, Grbavac gets to defend his country after being the winner at the Eastern European qualifying tournament. Grbavac does have some TV experience to his name. In 2023 and 2024, he and Krcmar competed in the World Cup of Darts. This year, the two Croats even made it to the quarterfinals.
Grbavac, however, will not be the favorite in his match against Callan Rydz, who is gearing up for his sixth World Cup entry. In 2022, 'The Riot' stunted with a spot in the quarter-finals, but in his other four participations, Rydz was eliminated in the second round each time. This year, Rydz finished number ten on the Pro Tour rankings for the World Darts Championship. His highlights on the Pro Tour were a Euro Tour semifinal and a semifinal on the Players Championship circuit.
Martin Lukeman v Nitin Kumar (R1)
A lot can be expected of Martin Lukeman at the World Darts Championship. 'Smash' has had a successful year with a quarterfinal at the UK Open and a sensational final at the Grand Slam of Darts. He is competing at the World Darts Championship for the third consecutive season. In his two previous participations, Lukeman survived the first round each time before being eliminated at the last 64.
With Kumar as his opponent, Lukeman has a favorable draw to reach the second round again. The Indian was this year's winner of the qualifying tournament for darters from India. Kumar participated in the World Darts Championship three times before, but failed to take a set once on stage at Alexandra Palace.
Gabriel Clemens v Robert Owen (R2)
We close again with a match from the second round, with the winner qualifying for the last 32 of this tournament. Gabriel Clemens was directly admitted to the second round of the World Darts Championship. For 'The German Giant' it is an important tournament, as he has to defend his semi-final place from two years ago. The German has not had a great season. He never reached the last sixteen on an individual major, while his performance on the Pro Tour was also disappointing compared to recent years.
His opponent Robert Owen had an unusual route toward this tournament. Originally he did not qualify, but the suspension of Dom Taylor because of a positive doping test gave Owen a spot at the World Darts Championship after all. Owen took advantage of this slot by winning against Niels Zonneveld in the first round. With a win over Clemens, Owen also dives into the top-64 of the world rankings, which will be enough to extend his Tour Card.
Sky Sports are broadcasting the entire World Darts Championship in the UK with coverage throughout on a dedicated channel Sky Sports Darts.

The 96 participants at the 2025 World Darts Championship may divide as much as 2.5 million pounds between them. That amount is almost forty times higher than at the very first edition of the PDC World Cup in 1994.
The 64 participants to start in the first round of the World Darts Championship will receive £7500 in prize money anyway. The top-32 of the placement list are guaranteed 15,000 pounds. These players enter the World Darts Championship from the second round. The amount then increases further each round. The new world champion will receive the top prize of 500,000 pounds.
First round: Best of 5 sets
Second round: Best of 5 sets
Third round: Best of 7 sets
Fourth round: Best of 7 sets
Quarterfinals: Best of 9 sets
Semifinals: Best of 11 sets
Final: Best of 13 sets
In the first round, there will be no tiebreak if it is 2-2 after four legs in the fifth set. In that case, the fifth leg will be sudden-death. Starting from the second round, a tie-break rule will be applied in all matches; a deciding set must be won with a difference of two legs. If the score in the final set becomes 5-5, a sudden-death leg will still be played.
