Martin Schindler won 6-4 in the second round of the
International Darts Open against
Raymond van Barneveld and is back on the big stage in Riesa on Sunday afternoon.
Schindler thus avenged himself for his painful defeat in Leverkusen last week. Then he was beaten 6-0 by William O'Connor.
"Especially after last week in Leverkusen it wasn't easy, of course," Schindler said in the interview afterwards. "Raymond is of course a top player in the sport. I knew what to expect and luckily I was better this time. Beating one of the darts icons, that is of course great."
Schindler faces Nathan Aspinall in the last 16. The Wall and The Asp have played each other in a total of six games in the past and the German has only managed to win one of those games so far.
"I count on the public to be on my side. I have to play my game. I only won one game against him. Come on, so be it. Now I have another chance," the German concluded.
