Schindler stuns Price, Dobey bows out with North East derby win over Joyce

Martin Schindler has ended his Grand Slam of Darts campaign on a high by stunning Gerwyn Price with a 5-4 victory.

Schindler came from 3-1 down to see off the two-time champion with a 101.6 average as Price has not yet topped the group.

He will now have to rely on results from elsewhere going his way in order to leave with the bonus into the Last 16.

A break at 3-1 down kicked the German into life as he pinned 78 to make it 3-2 and after levelling up went on to make it 4-3. He missed double 20 from there for a 160 finish for the win and Price cleaned up for a decider.

But he still took it on double 20 with Price only able to pressure and leave 73 in the end.

Chris Dobey began the night by bowing out of the Grand Slam of Darts with the bragging rights of the North East seeing off Ryan Joyce in a 5-3 win.

Dobey was facing Joyce who already claimed his spot in the next round with prior wins over Stephen Bunting and Rowby-John Rodriguez lost to a 97.8 average from 'Hollywood'.

Joyce was the one who made the early running though taking out 101 for the opening leg against Dobey but the Bedlington ace returned with back-to-back legs for a 2-1 lead.

A first 180 was then pinned alongside double 16 for a 4-2 lead before a hilarious moment which saw Russ Bray call game shot and then no score when he realised it wasn't in.

Still though a 92 checkout was the winning formula for Dobey who goes out on a high in Wolverhampton.
