GRANDSLAM GP2 LUKE HUMPHRIES1
Luke Humphries bounced back against Matt Campbell to give himself a fighting chance of making it through to the Last 16 of the Grand Slam of Darts.
Humphries spoke afterwards and revealed that was the main goal of his victory over the Canadian.
"That was the most important thing. It was giving myself a chance when I play on Tuesday. I felt a little bit uncomfortable, I didn't feel right. My arm felt a little bit tight but I think it was just because I was trying too hard. I don't see any other explanation. But the main most important thing was to get through the game and give myself a chance,"
Top 16 goal
His progression towards the top 16 in the Order of Merit continues which he revealed is a main dream.
"I wasn't really thinking about this 12 months ago but I'm not really defending too much next year so it's a great opportunity for me to break into the top 16 and whether I am there for one day or 10 years, just to make it once would be a dream come true."
With the World Championship on the horizon, Humphries is looking at every tournament as an opportunity.
"This is the time where you can make dreams a reality. We've got three big tournaments in quick succession. It's a great opportunity to make a name for yourself. It's the big end of the season and I hope to make some waves."
