Searle breezes past Aspinall to seal third PDC ranking title at Players Championship 11

Ryan Searle has claimed a third PDC ranking title after a superb display to down Nathan Aspinall 8-3 to conclude proceedings this weekend in Barnsley.

Searle won Players Championship 11 averaging 103 after winning titles in 2020 and 2021 and after losing in the final to Luke Humphries earlier this year, he adds a title deserving of his performances so far in 2022.

Searle made no mistake on throw in the opening leg. He missed the bull for a 124 break but Aspinall missed double double on 86 and Searle hit double four to break and go 2-0 up. He consolidated that to go 3-0 up with a 120 checkout.

He missed bull for a 124 checkout but Aspinall busted eight. He got a reprieve though as Searle chased round the board and he hit double four to make it 3-1.

Searle didn’t stand for the Aspinall revival though smashing in a 180. Aspinall did the same and went six darts into a nine-dart finish but Searle pinned double four to brush aside the threat at 4-1.

‘Heavy Metal’ was averaging 107 but a rare slip allowed Aspinall to hit a 177 to leave 24 but it was only a hold at 4-2 down.

A 137 start from Searle saw Aspinall already under the cosh and he pinned 103 to make it 5-2. Aspinall hit bull for a 124 checkout to hang in there at 5-3 down. 

A 174 from Searle ramped up the pressure again and he pinned 124 to go 6-3 up. A 153 to set up double 10 saw Searle pounce after Aspinall missed the chance to hold and it was 7-3. A 93 from 143 teed up the win for Searle which he claimed on double 20.
