Ryan Searle came through tough assignments against Ryan Joyce and Rob Cross to set up a final day clash with Daryl Gurney at the Players Championship Finals.
Searle was just glad to get past a player he has a lot of respect for and had never beat prior to this weekend.
"It was nice to play well for once. First two games weren't great, I think that was a solid performance there, that's really all I can say about that.
"I've never beaten Rob (Cross), I've got a lot of respect for Rob, a lot of respect for what he's done in the game in a short time and that's what I aspire to do, follow him really."
While he hopes being based nearby and having home comforts can stand him in good stead going into the final day.
"I'll go home now and sleep in my own bed which may be a little bit of an advantage compared to everyone else. Who knows what I can do."
