Fallon Sherrock will try to retain her title at the Women's World Matchplay on Sunday afternoon. However, 'The Queen of the Palace' is no longer considered the big favourite in women's darts. That status now lies with her 19-year-old rival Beau Greaves.
Sherrock also noticed that her expectations have been adjusted. “I feel like my game is slowly getting back to the level I want, and I’m just eager to get up there and show everyone how well I’m playing again. I’m going into Blackpool thinking that nobody is expecting me to win, because they’ve got their eyes on Beau."
The defending champion does have a tough start, as she meets her longtime rival Lisa Ashton in the opening round. Sherrock realizes she has a tough match there, but does not mind at all.
“I do prefer having the tougher games though, because it makes you play and it brings out your best game; you want to showcase what you can do. It also shows you how much you’re able to deal with the pressure, and I think that’s what I strive to do. I want to play the best players because I want to be put under pressure.”
