Sherrock spoke to Colin Murray's 52 podcast recently and reflected on women’s darts and what she thinks the future holds for it.
“Everything has changed now. A few years ago, when we were all playing at Lakeside [Country Club] it felt like it wasn’t going anywhere, but obviously what I’ve done and what Lisa’s done in getting the tour card and you’ve got to remember what Mikuru’s done.
When I was watching her play [in the PDC World Championships versus James Richardson in sudden death] I was just willing it to go in. I didn’t think it would blow up what it did. I mean she was so close and was one dart away [from making history]. If she had got the opportunity, she would have taken it.
“But what all of us have done in the world of darts, I think it’s helped and the sky’s the limit surely, I don’t know what more we can really do.”
‘The Queen of The Palace’ also spoke about the effect that Lisa Ashton having a Tour Card will have which of course makes her want the same goal.
“I think the PDC offers more opportunities and it’s like Lisa having the Pro Tour Card, she’s now playing these players week in and week out so she’s going to get used to all the pressure and all of these high class games being thrown at her and it’s only going to make her game better. The opportunities they’ve given me, I can only take so playing on these stages is all great experience if I get to the World Championships again as well.”
