Fallon Sherrock marked her lap of honour on the
World Series by seeing off Danish ace Niels Heinsøe in a rout 6-1 at the
Nordic Darts Masters on the opening night of action.
Denied her chance in 2020 on the World Series with only the Finals featuring 'The Queen of the Palace' due to the Coronavirus pandemic, she will look to impress as she makes up for lost time.
The Milton Keynes ace was due to face Gerwyn Price in a bumper Quarter-Final clash but since the conclusion of the evening's play, Price has withdrawn from the tournament meaning Sherrock will move straight through to the semi-finals where Dimitri van den Bergh or
Gary Anderson will await.
To begin their tie, Heinsøe produced a clinical start with a 104 checkout but Sherrock broke to go 2-1 up on double six.
It was a hold to back that up as Heinsøe was punished for missing the big number and Sherrock went 3-1 up. Both players had a poor leg on doubles but it was 'The Queen of the Palace' who converted double one to make it 4-1.
Double 15 first time saw Sherrock go one away from there at 5-1 up. A brilliant 165 left double 18 for Sherrock who claimed victory.
Also through is Gary Anderson who returned to winning ways in his first action since the World Matchplay seeing off Danish youngster Andreas Toft Jørgensen.
This was with a 6-3 win and a 95.4 average despite 15 missed darts at double but he will now face Dimitri van den Bergh tomorrow.
To begin, it was a 12-dart hold of throw but he missed a dart to break and was punished by the Danish youngster.
Another hold went the way of Anderson and despite a great start from Jørgensen, the pressure got to him and Anderson took advantage to break once more.
Jørgensen had three more darts to break straight back this time and Anderson hit double four to hold and go 4-1 up.
It was Anderson's turn to miss darts at doubles and Jørgensen produced a stunning 90 checkout on the bull to make it 4-2.
Anderson missed bull himself for a 170 checkout but held with a 25 checkout on double four to go 5-2 up. He missed the same target of bull for a 126 checkout and Jørgensen held throw.
But Anderson got over the line with an 81 checkout to win through 6-3.
