Singapore produce another shock with victory over Wales, Caris makes winning start to final career event as Sweden smash Brazil

Singapore have done it again with Paul and Harith Lim once again showing themselves to be real dangers with another shock win, this time over Wales.
As well, Dennis Nilsson and Magnus Caris smashed the Brazilian pairing of Diogo Portela and Artur Valle with Caris set to retire after this tournament and he made the perfect start in doing so.
In that tie, Portela started brilliantly with a 180 and a 140 before he claimed the first leg for Brazil. He continued to play well and put them on a 108 finish to break with a 177. Valle though missed double 20 in the combination to go 2-0 up and Nilsson made no mistake to level the contest.
The Brazilian pairing starting to falter though and 'Iron Man' was clinical smashing in a 141 checkout to take the lead. He did the trick once again smashing in double four to put them into a 3-1 lead.
They went one away soon after with the ever green Magnus Caris landing double 10 and he was the player that finished it off for the Swedish pairing.
In the next game between Singapore and Wales, it was the legendary Paul Lim who struck first with a double 10 but Harith Lim faltered early on the double which allowed Wales to claim the first break when they could have been 3-0 up and cruising.
Harith though made amends landing double 10 to level it up and Paul made it 3-2 with a 68 checkout. Clayton played poorly at times in the contest but put Wales in a great position at 3-3.
'The Singapore Slinger' hit double eight though to go one away from an upset but they needed to break throw. Harith put them in an excellent position by smashing in a 140 to leave Paul to win the match.
He missed a dart at the bull though but Clayton fluffed his lines missing a dart to make it a decider. Harith came back and only just snuck it in the double 16 last dart in hand to claim a huge victory.

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
