Michael Smith claimed a brilliant win over Max Hopp on Tuesday night to secure a maiden World Matchplay Quarter-Final spot.

Smith will take on Mervyn King after he saw off his close friend Gary Anderson and he is dreaming of the title despite admitting he will need to take baby steps due to it being his first time in the latter stages in Blackpool.
'It's feels good, just hopefully I'll be sat here Sunday with the trophy. Baby steps, first time into the quarter-finals I'm over the moon, I've just got to prepare for Thursday now,' said Smith to Betfred.
On what he will do to prepare for the quarter-finals, he admitted that nothing changes and that he will still be taking his son to school in the morning and tackling building some garden furtniture: 'I'll go home, do the school run in the morning with Junior as it's his last day, pick him up and I've got to build the garden furniture as well.'
His rugby league team St Helens could also have their Challenge Cup progression secured and he said that as long as both win their finals he will be happy.
'It'll be nice but the thing is if i'm in the final, it's the same day so I'll miss their final but as long as I win mine and they win theirs I'll be happy.'
