Smith final player through to Champions League of Darts semi-finals with victory over Wade

Michael Smith is the final player through to the semi-finals of the Champions League of Darts after defeating James Wade in a 10-8 win.

Smith had an unwanted record over Wade before proceedings began but snapped that in what was a high quality encounter between the pair. He will now take on Peter Wright in the semi-finals.

In the opening exchange it was very even with Smith claiming an early break but Wade broke back immediately to make it 3-3.

Wade himself missed a 121 checkout on the bull to break and potentially take a 5-3 lead and Smith capitalised hitting a clutch double five checkout to make it 4-4.

Wade held his throw with an 81 checkout and it remained even but Smith reeled in the big fish in the 170 checkout to make it 6-6 and claim the highest checkout of the tournament so far.

Despite that, Wade continued to take the lead at 7-6 up but couldn't break the throw despite having a shot at a 116 checkout. Smith though hit a 90 checkout and followed that up with a 56 checkout to go to within one.

Wade though asked the question pulling it back to 9-8 but Smith answered that securing the final spot in tonight's semi-finals.
