Smith impresses with whitewash against Hungarian, Hempel through after deciding leg

Ross Smith has made a strong start at the Hungarian Darts Trophy. The Englishman impressed with a 6-0 victory over home player Peter Strbik.
Smith recorded finishes of 77, 85 and 109 and had an average of 100.20 as Smudger produced the first 100+ average of the European Tour tournament in the Hungarian capital Budapest. Smith will take on Rob Cross on Saturday.
Florian Hempel needed a lot more effort to qualify for the second round. The German defeated Jake Jones 6-5 to reach the last 32. For Hempel awaits a clash with Peter Wright.
