Smith reveals inspiration from De Sousa after setting up second round clash: "It makes me think that if he can do it, so can I"

Ross Smith is successfully through to the second round at the 2020/21 PDC World Darts Championship where he will take on Grand Slam champion, Jose de Sousa.

Smith saw off the dangerous debutant David Evans in straight sets and admitted that it wasn't a game he particularly wanted so is glad to be through. He also spoke of the inspiration that De Sousa has given him.

"I was a bit wary of him (Evans) and I didn't really want to play him in the first round to be honest," admitted Smith.

"I'm pleased to be through and looking forward to playing Jose. He's a bit of inspiration to me because of the way he has dedicated himself, put the work in and got some success. It makes me think that if he can do it, so can I."
