Zonneveld dissatisfied after defeat: 'People close to me know that I can do better'

The World Championship is already over for Niels Zonneveld. The Dutchman lost 3-0 in sets to William O'Connor in his debut at the Alexandra Palace in London.

"It was unbelievably cold", Zonneveld told RTL7Darts. "But that's no excuse. The game wasn't good and I know there is room for improvement." Zonneveld scored an average of 83.4 and was quickly 2-0 behind after a bad start. "This was not the World Championship I had hoped for," he continued. "The people close to me know that I can do better. If I don't hit my 180's quickly, I know it's not my day.''

With this defeat, Zonneveld's two-year Tour Card period comes to an end. The Dutchman did not succeed in securing a place in the top 64 of the world rankings during this period and therefore loses his Tour Card. In January he can try to conquer a new Tour Card at the Q-School.
