Special Stephen Bunting makes statement with spectacular 107 average in whitewash win over Ryan Joyce

In the form of his life as of late and with the crowd having a new favorite chanting 'Let's Go Bunting Mental' on his walk-on, Stephen Bunting captivated the Alexandra Palace in the penultimate game before the Christmas break at the 2023/24 PDC World Darts Championship.
Bunting faced a tricky test with Ryan Joyce similarly in superb form as of late, but instead of the expected five sets, it was a whitewash win with a 107 average from the St Helens ace as well as five 180's.
It was utterly sublime from the very start from Bunting as he gave Joyce no chance. He blasted through the opening set in double quick time in three consecutive legs with a 115.6 average and 3/3 on the doubles to boot.
It was a lot less comfortable in the second. But when luck and form is on your side as he sealed it in a deciding leg to head in at 2-0 up with a 105 average and two maximums at that point in the contest.
Joyce took the opening leg of the next set with a 48 checkout. But Bunting hit a 12-darter on 81 for 1-1 and nearly went for a 132 for the win using two bull's. He finally sealed it on double 20.

- It seems odd that at the World Championship they have dancing ladies in hot pants and pom poms and yet the walk on ladies who were much more elegantly attired get removed from the scene. I met Daniella at Silverstone when she was a grid girl in the F1 race and was very pleasant indeed.
