With the Christmas break incoming at the PDC World Darts Championship, the biggest shock so far has ended proceedings as World Matchplay champion, Nathan Aspinall has been thrashed by Ricky Evans and sent packing at the Alexandra Palace.

Evans spoke about never quite being able to get past the second round hurdle after delighting fans over the years with his walk-ons but then losing his second game. But he produced one of his best ever displays on TV averaging close to 100 as 'The Asp' won just three legs all night. 'Rapid' pinned four 180's and 64% on the doubles as he surged through.

It was a dream start for Evans as he blasted to the opening set to give Aspinall an unsteady start to proceedings. This after a shocking opening leg between the pair and Evans won three in a row to claim the opener.

It was six legs on the spin from Evans as he blasted again to the second set with a 104 checkout to seal it and send Aspinall into all sorts of trouble.

Aspinall who had not been seen since the Grand Slam of Darts only won one more leg in a 68 checkout as Evans sealed the deal with no fuss to claim his spot in the third round. The biggest shock for last and a Christmas treat for the Kettering ace as he will return to delight fans again.
