Stephen Bunting has been ultra unlucky during this year's Premier League Darts but the statistics don't lie and 'The Bullet' is winless after seven weeks and he joins six other players who have that unfortunate feat.
Albeit he is the only player alongside Glen Durrant to do so in the current format of the weekly tournaments. Durrant did so back in 2021 when he was in darting turmoil and subsequently quit the game after that season.
He too had seven losses after six weeks albeit Bunting on the otherhand is not playing poorly, he is doing what players such as Chris Dobey who is also doing similar have done in the past and run into players who have showed their A game and handed crushing losses.
It too is a hard rut to get out of and the phrase that the Premier League can ruin players is very much apparent. Most other players on this list have seen their careers slide afterwards.
Robert Thornton was a great example back in 2016 as he went five defeats and one loss, the worst of the old format before it was altered. Gerwyn Price went 2-5 in draws and losses in 2018 but of course has bounced back considerably since then as one of the lead contenders.
Jelle Klaasen was an example of where it went wrong as he went 2-4 in the first seven weeks in 2009, Kim Huybrechts is another recent example just under 10 years ago. He played in the 2017 Premier League and mustered three draws and four losses.
Wayne Mardle finally in the first ever Premier League in 2006 went 3 draws and 5 losses. Bunting will hope to arrest his slide and isn't playing in Germany this weekend but as these names have shown, it's easier said than done.
