Karel Sedlacek is through to the second round of the 2022/23 PDC
World Darts Championship after a superb whitewash win for 'Evil Charlie' over Raymond 'The Guru' Smith who reached the Last 16 last year.
It wasn't to be this time though and Sedlacek surged through with three 180's, 98.72 average and 60% on the doubles and will face Dirk van Duijvenbode next.
Smith missed 110 for a hold and Sedlacek returned to break to begin set one. Smith hit back though with a 64 checkout for 1-1. Smith held on double 12 and was one away from the set.
Sedlacek missed 167 for the set and Smith also missed the bull for 86 and ‘Evil Charlie’ hit double eight for the opening set.
Sedlacek after a timely 180 had a break chance but spurned it after Smith had missed 90 for 1-1 but ‘The Guru’ missed two more and Sedlacek hit double five. He sealed the set from there on double 10.
Both exchanged holds for 1-1. Sedlacek broke though on double eight to go one away from victory. Smith went six darts into a nine-darter and hit a 44 checkout to send it to a decider. Sedlacek couldn’t pin 96 for the match but Smith missed 76 to take a set and Sedlacek won.
