Gary Anderson reached the final of the recent PDC World Championship to his surprise but according to
Phil Taylor, it won’t be long until he returns to his brilliant best.
Anderson is known not to practice but Taylor said he is the opposite as a player
“Gary Anderson I wouldn’t believe a word he says. He’s interested trust me,” said Taylor to the PDC.
“He’s a big practicer, I know he’s very dedicated. But I think the years have taken their toll on Gary. He’s been very busy up and down motorways driving himself which takes it out of you. I used to say to him ‘you need a driver really’.
“He’s also settling down. Again he’s got children who he adores and it’s hard to keep motivating yourself. Especially when you’ve got a few bob in the bank and you don’t need to do it.
“So it’s hard for him to say ‘right kids I’ll see you in six weeks time’. So mentally that’s what pulls him down a little bit.
“But I think with Gary he performs at the right times, gets to finals and that shows you he’s still there. He’s only got to step his game up a little fraction and he’s right back at No.1 again.”
