Delighted to have been invited to take part in the First World Senior Darts Championships. Rest assured I will be after winning it as well.
Phil Taylor is set to return to darts with the World Seniors Darts Championship announced this morning and will be ran by darts promoter and management company MODUS Sports alongside Snooker Legends who already run a successful seniors tour.
Any player can participate who is over the age of 50 and 'The Power' was one of the first to reveal his participation.
“I lost my hunger four years ago but having seen the concept that MODUS and Snooker Legends have put together and having worked for MODUS Sports for many years on the exhibition circuit I could not resist making a comeback. I cannot wait to hit the practice board and show my old rivals I still have what it takes to win. I dominated the professional tour, maybe I can dominate the seniors too," said Taylor on the announcement.
In addition to the 16-time World Champion, the likes of Martin Adams, Andy Fordham, John Lowe, Bob Anderson, Richie Burnett, Keith Deller, Dennis Priestley, John Part and Les Wallace have all been invited to take part.
In addition, further places will be made available during a 'Seniors Qualifying School' which is set to take place later this year before the tournament is provisionally planned for 2022.
Advanced discussions have taken place with not only venues but also TV broadcasters to showcase the event and the winner will receive £25,000 for claiming the title.
