Stephen Bunting's quest for a third
World Series of Darts title I'm 2025 fell just short on Saturday night in Gliwice. 'The Bullet' was denied in a thrilling
Poland Darts Masters final by
Gerwyn Price 8-7.
Having already won the Bahrain Darts Masters and the Nordic Darts Masters in 2025, Bunting was looking to become just the third player in history - after Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson - to win a hat trick of World Series titles in the same season. After a stunning thrashing of world champion Luke Littler in the semi-finals, Bunting's hopes looked good too. Ultimately however, it proved a step too far, as Price edged the former Lakeside champion in a dramatic decider, sealing the win in style too by going double 17, double 20.
“I’ve really enjoyed this weekend,” insisted the world number four when speaking on stage afterwards. “You cannot give Gezzy opportunities, because he’s absolutely class. That double-double finish - I just said to him: 'that was unbelievable'. It was a great ending to a brilliant game.”
For Bunting, Price and the rest of the PDC, attention now turns to another midweek block if Pro Tour action from Leicester, with Players Championship 20 and Players Championship 21.
