"That was absolute torture" - Whitlock on waiting to learn Group Stage fate at Grand Slam of Darts

Simon Whitlock was made to wait for his spot on the Last 16 at the Grand Slam of Darts after defeating Christian Perez with Danny Noppert then doing a job on Mensur Suljovic.

"That was absolute torture. I knew the permatations of all that and was like thank god for that, I played three pretty good games and I deserve to get through I think.

"Being 2-0 down was a bit of stressful and just saying right just win the match and then you might get through depending on results."

He also went into more detail in regards to his injury as well as facing Raymond van Barneveld next.

"I try not to think about rankings, I just try and do the best each day as it comes now. The heel is painful, annoying, not the best but when I actually play, I don't feel it because I'm concentrating but after and the next day it's really bad.

"It's been like this for two months, I don't think there's any quick cure for it but I'm getting radiotherapy and acupuncture. Hopefully Wednesday I get more."

"Raymond's five time World Champion, he's still very good on his day. He's proven that. Even like myself, I can beat anyone on my day."
