Joe Cullen came from 3-1 down to see off Lisa Ashton who despite being out looked to act as a spoiler at one point to the hopes of 'The Rockstar' at the
Grand Slam of Darts but he prevailed 5-3.
Post match, Cullen himself was full of praise for not only Ashton but his good friend, Michael Smith who sealed his spot with two legs over Ritchie Edhouse.
"Lisa played fantastic, I knew she obviously didn't play great the first two games by her own admission and I knew she'd probably relax and play well tonight and she did. The first four or five legs I was massively under it and I think that's probably one of the nervous times I've been on stage but I'm through now so who cares," said Cullen to Online Darts.
"I knew the only result that could damage it was 5-1 to Ritchie, 5-0 to Ritchie and Michael would have lost out. Michael's been playing fantastic all tournament so I thought he was good value for two legs and being my friend he's come up trumps hasn't he. He didn't even make it interesting, he just won the first two legs which is fine by me."
