Luke Littler visibly enjoys his rise to become one of darts’ brightest young stars, but behind the scenes much has changed in the past year. Speaking openly with DartStream Live, the young Englishman discusses fame, pressure, and adapting to life at the very top.
“Last year, for the first five or six months after I started playing in the Premier League, I was just staying inside. I didn’t want to go out,” Littler reflects. “But then I realised you’ve just got to get out there in the real world, whether people want pictures or not. I’ve not done too bad.”
Recent months have seen Littler develop a habit — whether intentional or not — of starting slowly and then mounting impressive comebacks. “Usually I get off to a good start, but it’s not been happening,” he admits. “I know in my mind I can always come back. Tonight I was 2–0 down and got back into it. I think Hope was always there behind me.”
This year marked Littler’s first
World Series trip Down Under without his parents, who have long been a big part of his career. “I knew my mum and dad weren’t coming, and that was tough,” he admits. “But I’ve got Faith with me now. She’s an amazing woman. As soon as I asked her, she said yes. I don’t think she thought she’d ever get the chance, so I told her she could come with me.”
However, the realities of fame come with their challenges. “It’s been tough. At the start of last year, I was always looking at the comments online, and she’s been looking at them too. There’s negativity, but I just tell her they’re jealous and want to ruin us. I tell her not to look at it, just to focus on what we’ve got.”
Littler has clearly grown into the superstar role with a natural ease. “I think you gave me some lessons on how to be better at interviews,” he jokes when asked about media duties. “When you win, you speak to the media, but on media days before the Premier League or the World Championships, you’ve just got to get it done. There are still times I don’t want to do it.”
Known for his flair on stage, Littler recalled a recent spectacular moment: “I think it was one of those moments. He had the darts, I opened with a 180 and just thought, ‘Leave a finish in the next six darts,’ and then I did. I managed to get over the line.”

When it comes to goals, Littler is ambitious yet grounded. “One of my big goals is to win every title at least once,” he says. “This year I’ve already picked up a few big ones. And yes, back-to-back nine-darters are still on my list. No one’s ever done it. Phil Taylor hit two in one game, and Michael van Gerwen came close — he got 17 perfect darts. Back-to-back nines would be pretty insane.”
Asked if his top level has improved, Littler is confident. “Yeah, I think I’ve definitely got better. Fans will say I’ve got an A-game and a B-game, but it’s darts — if we don’t play well, we don’t play well. We just try to get over the line each time.”
A distinctive feature of his game is the ability to adapt his throwing style mid-match. “I just kept going. I changed my throw a few times, but that’s just for myself. If it’s not going well, you’ve got to change it up. If you’re not comfortable with something, you have to change it.”
With that versatility and a calm, determined mindset, Littler continues to build on his rapid rise, quietly hungry for more success while embracing the challenges fame inevitably brings.
