Luke Littler on Saturday failed to win a World Series tournament for the third time this season. After titles in Bahrain and Poland, 'The Nuke' lost 8-1 to Gerwyn Price in the final of the Australian Darts Masters.

The Welshman had qualified for the final of the World Series tournament in Wollongong by beating Rob Modra (6-2), Michael Smith (6-4) and Dimitri van den Bergh (7-6). Against Smith and Van den Bergh, Littler even recorded an average above 104.

In the final against Littler, "The Iceman" quickly gained a comfortable lead by winning all five of the first legs. After Littler got on the scoreboard in the sixth leg, Price picked up two more legs to push his opponent aside 8-1.

“Fair play to Gezzy. I couldn’t keep up with him there,” admitted the 17-year-old.“He didn’t miss much [in the final] and he deserved the win.

“There’s no excuses. I was poor in that final, but hopefully I can carry my form from my first two games into New Zealand.”

Next up is New Zealand where he will hope to carry that form forward next weekend. But Price was just too good in this case.
