Michael van Gerwen failed to win the first night of the Premier League on Thursday night. 'Mighty Mike' went down 6-5 against Chris Dobey in the final.
Van Gerwen was bitterly disappointed afterwards. "In the beginning I was throwing well, after twelve darts I was on a double every time. But afterwards the decline was too big. These are long nights, but something like this should not happen," Van Gerwen told Viaplay.
No excuses
"I was favourite beforehand for that final against Dobey, so no excuses really" Van Gerwen continued. "But this is the Premier League, you are going to win matches, but losing matches is also part of it. I have to take this one on my chin and make sure I am there again next week in Cardiff."
