This weekend, the world's best darts players are expected in Trier, where the European Darts Matchplay is scheduled from 30 June to 2 July. The 48-strong field of participants includes the likes of Luke Humphries, Gerwyn Price, Michael van Gerwen and Michael Smith

The seeded players include big names such as Luke Humphries, Dave Chisnall, Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith, Nathan Aspinall, Josh Rock and Jonny Clayton.

Dirk van Duijvenbode, Michael van Gerwen and Danny Noppert are among the top-16 seeded players in Trier, Germany, and enter the tournament from the second round. The same goes for Belgian Dimitri van den Bergh, who is the 16th series head at the European Darts Matchplay.

Through the Tour Card Qualifier, Raymond van Barneveld, Gian van Veen and Kim Huybrechts also managed to qualify for this tournament. Christian Kist is the sixth Dutchman at the event after securing a starting spot via the Associate Member Qualifier.

The field of competitors further includes Jose de Sousa, Simon Whitlock, Ross Smith, Stephen Bunting, James Wade, Jim Williams, Brendan Dolan and Matt Campbell, who all managed to qualify via the Tour Card qualifying tournament.
