With the
BDO World Darts Championship not taking place this month due to the organisation’s demise, DartsNews looks back at classic moments and matches throughout January from the showpiece event.
The 2007 BDO World Championship final saw one of the best matches ever seen on the Lakeside stage. It saw
Phill Nixon take on
Martin Adams.
Defending champion Jelle Klaasen fell in the opening round to Co Stompé who in turn lost to Martin Adams.
Adams then made it to the final after seeing off Ted Hankey and Mervyn King.
In this final, Adams took a 6-0 lead but the resilience of Nixon was on display as he forced a deciding set which Richard Ashdown spoke about recently saying that the presentation party was ready for six sets before Adams got over the line.
