Martijn Kleermaker had a superb opening year in the PDC and qualified for the World Championship but it all came to a halt when he tested positive for Coronavirus.
Kleermaker revealed in a recent interview with Tungsten Tales that he tried to avoid the coverage as much as possible.
"Everytime when you're looking on Facebook, Instagram or television, it was all about darts and I didn't want to see the darts because I wasn't allowed to play. That hurt me a lot but I went to my mental coach this week and we said to each other, we're not going to look back, we are going to look forward," said Kleermaker to Tungsten Tales.
"I will come back harder and harder and I will show everybody what I'm capable of and next year I will be in the World's again."
The player known as 'The Dutch Giant' switched from the BDO to the PDC and spoke about the difference. "At the BDO, it's also a lot of fun. When I was a seeded player, the first three, four rounds were quite easy. At the PDC, every game is a hard game. You have to average 100 or more and then you lose also. It's harder, it's more business. I'm really enjoying it, I'm learning a lot."
Top 64 ambitions
"I think I played some good stuff in my first year. It was a good year for sure but the thing with the Covid test in December was a bit annoying but I'm looking forward to year number two and reaching the top 64 and maybe more."
