Thibault Tricole has forced himself into the reckoning for a PDC Tour Card and World Darts Championship spot after sealing Event 21 of the PDC
Challenge Tour in Leicester.
A maiden PDC title not only for 'The French Touch' but for his nation following on from Jacques Labre's WDF Europe Cup win recently sees another milestone.
But he now sits sixth heading into the final events of the weekend over today and tomorrow. Behind currently Jurjen van der Velde who has a Tour Card likely through the Development Tour as well as the top four of Scott Williams, Robert Owen, Danny van Trijp and Stephen Burton.
The leader will likely get his spot through the main rankings as he is due to finish inside the top 64 after qualifying for the World Championship through the ProTour.
In turn, this means barring Williams taking the two year card himself, Robert Owen and Danny van Trijp currently hold Tour Cards and the World Championship spots albeit with Burton, Van der Velde and Tricole now as well as Sedlacek on the same amount as the latter in contention.
Players can earn reserve spots for the Pro Tour 2022 and Tour Cards for 2023 and 2024 on the Challenge Tour. The highest ranked players on the PDC Challenge Tour Order of Merit are eligible for the reserve spots at the Players Championships.
The top two on the Challenge Tour ranking at the end of the season are offered a PDC Tour Card for the following two seasons. In addition, they are also allowed to participate in the PDC World Darts Championship.
