All the world's top players have signed up for the remainder of this circuit. Defending champion Gary Anderson has signed up, as well as world number one Luke Humphries, reigning world champion Luke Littler and three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen. They are all among the top-16 seeded players and will enter the tournament from the second round.
In addition to the top 16 in the world rankings, the 16 best Pro Tour players are also guaranteed participation. They do have to start the tournament from the first round. This includes Mike de Decker, Martin Schindler, Michael Smith and Ross Smith.
The first round will take place on Friday. The 16 Pro Tour players are then paired with one of the 16 players who managed to get through the various qualifying tournaments. The top-16 seeded players enter the tournament on Saturday in the second round. The conclusion of the tournament follows on Sunday, with the third round first in the afternoon session. Sunday evening the quarter-finals, semifinals and finals will follow.
This is the 11th time the European Darts Grand Prix has been played. The very first edition of this event was in 2014, and was won by Mervyn King. Remarkably, in ten editions there have been as many as nine different winners. Michael van Gerwen (2016 and 2018) is the only player to win this tournament more than once. Other winners include Kim Huybrechts (2015), Peter Wright (2017), Ian White (2019), Jose de Sousa (2020), Luke Humphries (2022), Rob Cross (2023) and Gary Anderson (2024).
Anderson took the title in Sindelfingen last year by defeating Ross Smith in the final. For "The Flying Scotsman," it was his first Euro Tour title since 2014.
