On Friday, June 7 at 7 p.m., the first round of the Nordic Darts Masters will kick off. In this round, the eight PDC top players will take on eight players from the Nordic countries. On behalf of the PDC, Luke Humphries, Michael Smith, Nathan Aspinall, Gerwyn Price, Rob Cross, Peter Wright, Dimitri van den Bergh and Stephen Bunting will be in action. Michael van Gerwen and Luke Littler are missing from this World Series tournament. These two world class players have chosen to take a week's holiday.
The Scandinavian representation comes on behalf of Madars Razma, Benjamin Drue-Reus, Jeffrey de Graaf, Marko Kantele, Johan Engstrom, Vladimir Andersen, Dennis Nilsson and Daniel Larsson.
The eight winners of the first round will return to the Forum Copenhagen stage a day later. Then the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals will be played consecutively.
The very first edition of the Nordic Darts Masters took place in 2021. Then Fallon Sherrock sensationally managed to reach the final by beating Dimitri van den Bergh 11-10 in the semifinals after trailing 2-8. In the final, however, Sherrock was defeated 11-7 by Michael van Gerwen.
A year later, Dimitri van den Bergh ran away with the title. 'The Dreammaker' dealt with Gary Anderson (11-5) in the final. In 2023 there was still a Scottish winner at the Nordic Darts Masters. Peter Wright took the title by winning 11-5 over Gerwyn Price in the final.
