The real battle erupts on Thursday and Friday nights, when the first round of the Winmau World Masters 2025 is played. The top-24 players in the world rankings then flow into the tournament and are joined by the eight players who made it through the preliminary round. Both nights you can enjoy top darts on ITV4 from 7 p.m. to 11. This stage is often full of surprises: favorites who stumble early, outsiders who impress, and more spectacular moments.
The weekend begins right away with the second round on Saturday. In the afternoon, the broadcast starts at 12:45 p.m. and lasts until 5 p.m., followed by the evening program from 7 p.m. to 11. Four duels from the second round will be completed in both sessions.
Sunday is the day where everything comes together. The tournament approaches its climax with the quarter-finals in the afternoon, followed by the semi-finals and the final in the evening session. Who will win the first edition of the Winmau World Masters under the PDC banner?
The Winmau World Masters is the oldest and one of the most prestigious tournaments on the darts calendar. The tournament was first played in 1974 under the banner of the BDO. From 1975 it was renamed the Winmau World Masters. The BDO organized the tournament until 2019. After the demise of the famous darts association, the WDF took over the tournament, returning in 2022 and 2024 as the World Masters without the familiar sponsor name.
The Winmau World Masters has now been adopted by the PDC and shows many similarities to the old format. Indeed, at the World Masters, a set format is used. However, unlike the other set tournaments at the PDC, the World Masters was played over best of 3 legs instead of best of 5 legs per set.
