"Two more sleeps and I can go home": Price admits being homesick in Australia, casts doubt on World Series in 2024

Gerwyn Price was a dominant winner in his opening-round match at the New South Wales Darts Masters, seeing off the local representative Harley Kemp 6-2.

Despite the comfortable nature of the win and a 98 average, Price wasn't overly impressed by his performance. "First two or three legs, I just couldn't seem to find a treble but midway through the game I found my feet and finished off okay," he told Online Darts post-match.

Last time out at the New Zealand Darts Masters, Price reached the semi-final before losing to eventual winner, Rob Cross. "He did what he had to do and he took out the big checkouts when I was missing," Price recalls. "That's the way the game goes. Just got to move on, play this one and hopefully win this one!"

A big difference to last year's World Series of Darts events Down Under for Price is that his family has stayed back home. As such, the Welshman admits he is struggling with the loneliness, even hinting he may skip the World Series in 2024.

"I'm just thinking two more sleeps and I can go home and it shouldn't be like that," he says glumly. "Spent most of my time in my room this year. If I come again next year then I'll have to bring my family and do a little bit more because all I've done is sleep and sit in the room which is no good mentally."
