Van Barneveld dumps out Price, Anderson edges past Aspinall as first round begins at Players Championship 27

The first round has begun at Players Championship 27 with Gerwyn Price, Dimitri van den Bergh, Damon Heta and Michael Smith all out at the first hurdle.
Price was dumped out in a 6-4 win for Raymond van Barneveld with the doyen of Dutch darts averaging 92 in victory over 'The Iceman' who has reached the latter stages in the past two days.
Dimitri van den Bergh averaged only 88 but was on the receiving end of an 6-1 thrashing by William O'Connor who averaged 108 in victory.
While Heta lost 6-1 to Shaun Wilkinson after winning yesterday and Michael Smith was defeated 6-2 by Joe Murnan.
There were victories though for Gary Anderson who edged past Nathan Aspinall 6-4 to continue his resurgence, while Luke Humphries, Dave Chisnall, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Rob Cross, Jonny Clayton, Peter Wright and Joe Cullen are among the seeds who did make it through.
