Van den Bergh spoke afterwards and admitted that it spurs him on seeing what he has done while he has watched from the side.
"I've seen Nathan develop himself to the player he is right now. I've always gave him a hard game, I've always gave him a tough game. He always had to work for what he accomplished. I preferred it was me, but then again if you see players like him going that far at some point you've got to just focus on yourself and see you can get there yourself," said Van den Bergh post-match to
Online Darts.
In terms of the PDC Summer Series, he went on to say that for him he has been building his game to where his B game is at it's best and that he truly believes he is a match for anyone: "People can say I wasn't playing well but I was feeling well. I have seen my B game raising, people focus on what I can do, how good I can play but to be a top player your B game has to get better and that's what I've worked on."
"So in the Summer Series, I don't think many players can say they played the tournaments under a 91 average and that's what I've done."
"If I perform the way I can the way I showed today, the way I showed in the Summer Series, that's what I possess. I can win against anyone and I have shown before."
